ZT410 and ZT420 Printhead Replacement and Part Numbers
The ZT410 and ZT420 take different printheads, but each shares its printhead with its ZT411 or ZT421 successor — which is why parts for these discontinued printers remain easy to source and why repair still makes sense. Printhead resolution must match the printer's build: a 203 dpi ZT410 takes a 203 dpi head, and 300 or 600 dpi heads are not interchangeable with it.

Verify the part number against Zebra's ZT400 series parts catalog before ordering; the printer's build resolution is on the configuration label. Replace a head when a fixed line of missing dots appears in the same position on every label — that is burned-out heating elements, and cleaning will not recover them. Printhead life depends on media abrasiveness and darkness setting; running darkness higher than the media needs is the most common way fleets shorten head life. Is the Zebra ZT410 discontinued?
Yes. Zebra replaced the ZT410 and ZT420 with the ZT411 and ZT421 in 2019 and no longer sells the older models new. Both remain repairable: the ZT411 uses the same printheads as the ZT410 and the ZT421 the same as the ZT420, so parts are current, and independent depots including Sterling Mobile repair them and supply refurbished units. What is the price of a Zebra ZT410 printer?

As a rule refurbished industrial printers run 25–50% below the cost of the equivalent new model — for a ZT410 that means well below a new ZT411.
How do I calibrate my Zebra ZT410 printer?
Load media and ribbon, close the printhead until it latches, then run media calibration from the control panel (Settings → Calibrate, or hold PAUSE and CANCEL for two seconds on the ZT410/ZT420 keypad). The printer feeds several labels to measure the gap, notch or black mark, then saves the result. If calibration will not hold, the cause is usually mechanical — a dirty or failed media sensor, worn platen, or a head that is not latching evenly — rather than a setting.
How do I replace the printhead on a Zebra ZT410?
Power off, open the media door, release the printhead latch, disconnect the two printhead cables and lift the head out; fit the new head, reconnect, latch, then reset darkness and pressure for your media and recalibrate. As an option. Standard ZT410 and ZT420 connectivity is USB 2.0, RS-232 serial, 10/100 Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1 and USB host; 802.11 wireless was a factory or field-installed option, so check the configuration label or print a configuration report to see whether your unit has it.
